Louie, as everyone calls him, is the bold and limitless warrior who protects the firm. In 2004, he made the drastic decision to dedicate himself to fighting for the rights of immigrants in the city of Cincinnati after witnessing a disturbing and unsettling conversation in the private chamber of a criminal judge regarding his immigrant client, the accused.

The judge and the prosecutor referred to Louis' client as scum, an insignificant and deportable defendant. They continued their conversation assuming that Louis shared the same opinion since Louis' physical appearance does not reveal his Latino origins. Always inspired by his love for comic books, particularly Batman, Louis decided to focus his legal practice on fighting for the rights of immigrants and to die as a hero rather than live long enough to become a villain.

Louis takes great pride in holding dual citizenship in the United States and Colombia, as well as being bilingual in English and Spanish. Louis honors his ethnicity and culture, which connect him to the memory of his beloved mother and father, who were the first generation of immigrants in his family to come to the United States. They worked very hard to learn English, assimilate to American culture, and succeed in an unfamiliar territory.

While Louis can be intense at times and gentle at others, he has always been consistent in his effort to do good. His family, friends, employees, and clients know they can always count on him. He defends the rights of his clients in any type of court and under any circumstances. Uniquely, most of his work focuses on the disadvantaged, the unrepresented, and those whose constitutional rights are violated. This emphasis means that Louis approaches each case from the perspective of how it might affect the rights of immigrants to remain in the country or how the immigrant might be treated in court and by the law based on their foreign heritage.

Louis also gained his deep-seated perspective and philosophy by observing how members of his Colombian family, including his wife's family, went through the migration process and its tedious and demanding paperwork, as well as the cultural differences, racism, and discrimination associated with immigrating to the United States. Growing up with one foot in both worlds without ever fully belonging to either allowed Louis to witness the issues, injustices, and pitfalls that those who can only see one side can truly understand.

He naturally considers himself fortunate to have grown up with one foot in the Colombian world and the other in the American one. He was born and raised here in Cincinnati, graduated from Summit Country Day Middle School and St. Xavier High School before continuing his education at Ohio State University, where he graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in economics before attending the University of Toledo College of Law, where he earned his law degree. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and federal courts, as well as all EOIR courts. Having practiced solo from 2000 to 2013, he was joined by Deifilia in 2013, and together they established The Law Offices of Valencia & Diaz, Ltd.

Louis is first and foremost a family man, and it is that same love for family that has always led him with passion and devotion. He wants everyone to have, share, and enjoy the love of family that he feels, and that is why he defends the rights of all immigrants as if he were defending the rights of his own family. Beyond this passion for his family and his legal practice, he spends his free time extending that progressive tenacity by serving as the president of the Latino Coalition of Southwest Ohio, the vice president of Conoce Tus Derechos, and a board member of La Amistad; all nonprofit organizations that support Latino families in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. He is also the co-host of the radio program Conoce Tus Derechos every Saturday at 9:30 AM alongside Deifilia on La Mega 97.7 FM in Cincinnati and La Mega 103.1 FM in Columbus.
